Michelle Collens
Director of Tourism and Destination Events, City of Vancouver
A proud UBC alumna who played varsity volleyball for the Thunderbirds, Michelle Collens has
made a career of her passion for sport. Focused in the area of sport hosting, Michelle has held
positions with UBC Athletics, Sport Kelowna, 2010 Legacies Now and BC Pav Co. Michelle is
currently the Director of Tourism and Destination Events with the City of Vancouver, working
closely with all levels of government, tourism, and community organizations.
Michelle specializes in the development of strategy related to major events, sport tourism, destination marketing and economic development. Michelle played a lead role in establishing Sport Hosting Vancouver, a collaborative community partnership providing a responsive and streamlined approach to attracting major events like the annual HSBC Vancouver Sevens, 2023 Laver Cup, 2024 Grey Cup, 2025 Invictus Games and the FIFA World Cup 2026.
